Ideas: 6 Ways to Refresh Your Bedroom

Bored with the look of your room, or just looking to splurge to beautify your living area? Whatever your reason is, there are a lot of easy, affordable ways to perk up your bedroom without having to resort to reno rumble. Here are a few ways to make your bedroom feel new and fresh again:

Rearrange Furniture

Moving things around not only gets you out of the rut, but it can also do wonders to your daily life – for example, by moving your dressing table away from sunlight exposure to dry, secluded area, your make-up and other beauty products will last longer. On the other hand, a study found that working in a windowed environment improves vitality and sleep quality – meaning that moving your work desk by the window would be a great idea.

Change Your Bedsheets and Curtains

Changing the colour palette of your bedroom might be hard and impractical, especially if you’re renting. The easiest way to do this is by changing your bedsheets and curtains, which is easier than painting the walls and quite affordable compared to, say, buying new wardrobes. For soothing environment, choose shades of pale blue and other muted, dusty colours such as lavender and beige.

Put Art on the Wall

Put on your favourite art work or film poster on the plain wall to make the room feel more personal. It doesn’t have to be expensive – you can print one out by yourself or hunt some at your nearest thrift shop.

Invest in New Lightings

Can’t get enough of the Christmas lights from Stranger Things, or looking to get the fancy nightlight you’ve been wanting since you were a kid? Investing in novelty lamps will definitely allow you to see the bedroom in a new light (get it?).

Give It a Scent

Put on some aromatherapy in your bedroom for all kinds of mood – lemon and other citrus family to energise, vanilla and lavender to calm down, grass and jasmine to feel fresh. Don’t forget to check out my article on DIY aromatherapy that you can try at home!

Declutter

Last but not least, channel your inner Marie Kondo and take a second look at your belongings. If it takes up space and no longer gives you joy, why hold on to it? Decluttering will not only free up some space, but also make your room feel cleaner and more organised.
